This page explains what this website collects, why, who else handles it and how to ask us to delete it. It describes what the site actually does, not a template.

Who we are

What we collect
When you send us a message
The contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number and a description of your project. We receive exactly what you type into it. Nothing on this site asks for payment details, and there is nowhere on this site to enter them.
When you use the chat assistant
Messages you type into the chat window are processed so the assistant can answer, and the conversation is kept so we can follow up on an enquiry and review how well the assistant is performing. If you give the assistant your name, phone number or email so we can call you back, that becomes an enquiry in the same way a form submission does.
Automatically, in the background
- Your IP address, used to rate-limit the form and the chat so they cannot be abused. It is stored as a one-way hash, so the file is not a list of visitor addresses.
- Standard web server logs kept by our hosting, recording requests made to the site.
- Browser storage for your cookie choice and any accessibility settings you turn on. Both stay in your browser and are described under cookies below.
Why we collect it
- To answer your enquiry and quote for the work you asked about.
- To keep a record of the enquiry so it does not get lost if an email fails to send.
- To stop automated abuse of the form and the chat.
- To keep the site working and to fix it when it does not.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

A small number of service providers process information on our behalf so the site can work at all.

Links out to our Google Business Profile take you to Google, where Google's own privacy terms apply rather than ours.
Where it is stored and for how long
Enquiries are written to a file on our server that is not reachable from the web, and they are emailed to us. We keep enquiries for as long as we may reasonably need them to service the job and to answer questions about work we have done. Rate-limiting records are short-lived and contain a hash rather than your address. If you want your enquiry deleted, ask us and we will delete it.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies of its own. What it does use:

nacs_cookie_consentso the banner does not ask again. Choosing Decline does more than hide the banner: it also deletes non-essential cookies that are already present. - Accessibility settings

nacs_ada_settingsif you turn on any of the accessibility options, so your settings survive between pages. They never leave your device. - Translation
- If you choose a language, Google Translate sets a
googtranscookie recording it. Switching back to English removes it.
You can clear any of this at any time from your browser's settings.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you.
- Ask us to correct it, or to delete it.
- Decline non-essential cookies using the banner.
- Use the phone instead of the form. Calling (586) 226-9416 leaves nothing on this website at all.
Children
This site is aimed at property owners and businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If how the site works changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated by hand. We do not restamp the date to make the page look recently reviewed when it has not been.
